The Reds have been looking for a new right-back since the start of the year after a contract extension with Trent failed to progress and Frimpong is one of the targets, with a reported €40m release clause, and Hamann has described him as an excellent replacement.
“I would be surprise if nobody took Jeremy Frimpong last summer for around €40m. There was an option and nobody used it, but he’s a great player,” Hamann said. “He’s got pace, he can score goals and pass. He’s a modern player and would do well in the Premier League.”
